Welcome to the IIT Alumni Club at Chennai.

The story began 15 years ago, when the thought of setting up a social club for IITians was first mooted by a group of Madras alumni. Over the years, several attempts were made to get the proposal off the ground, but none led to any concrete action being taken.

And then came the Pan IIT 2008 Global Conference, where over 2500 alumni from all the IITs and from all over the world got together for three days of brain-storming, socializing and networking. The event was so widely successful, that a group of us Pan IITians started wondering whether we would need to wait another 15 years for an alumni event of this magnitude to come to Chennai. And that's when the idea of the IIT Alumni Club finally came to life.

A core group of IITians from several IITs came together. And the first flyer inviting membership was sent out.

Within the first month, over 150 membership applications (along with payment) have been received. The Managing Committee and various support Committees have been formed. And serious work is under way.

For Phase I, leased premises have been identified and finalised at an extremely central location in East Abhiramapuram. The Club was launched for Beta testing on 17th October 2010.

In Phase II, we hope to lease or purchase our own land, and start building the first ever all IIT Alumni Club. Facilities will match the best of clubs, and with your active support, we expect to be fully functional in about 3 years' time.
